14-year-old tied to pole, legs chained, beaten up for plucking plant in Bihar

A 14-year-old boy was tied to a pole and his legs were chained before being beaten up by a woman and her children for plucking a plant on Saturday in Bihar’s Begusarai district.
A video of the incident has surfaced showing the minor unconscious with chains on his feet, while his family members are weeping at the scene surrounded by a crowd.
After the video came to light, Begusarai SP Maneesh took action, ordering an investigation.
An FIR has been filed against the accused woman, Sumitra Devi, and her children. Police are actively searching for the accused, who are currently on the run.
The incident happened when a 14-year-old Dilkhush Kumar was plucking a plant belonging to his neighbour, Sumitra Devi. In retaliation, Sumitra, along with her son and daughters, chained Dilkhush’s legs, tied him to a pole, and began beating him.
Upon hearing of the assault, the boy’s family rushed to the scene and managed to free him. Severely injured, Dilkhush was taken to the nearby hospital for treatment, where he reportedly kept slipping in and out of consciousness due to the severity of the injuries.
Locals claimed that Sumitra Devi has a history of bullying and intimidating her neighbours.
SP Maneesh confirmed the brutality of the act in a press release, stating that the accused woman and her children have fled following the incident, and police raids are underway to arrest them.
